Our May Music Unveiled is now live on our YouTube to watch!
The Music Unveiled Team explored the second movement of Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet and Ronan Guilfoyle’s new work ‘Legacy’, two works featured on our What we Carry programme.
This session was led by Music Lecturer at University of Galway, Dr Ramin Haghjoo, and Irish composer Ronan Guilfoyle with live demonstrations by ConTempo Quartet and special guest Matthew Berrill.
Our Music Unveiled events are paired with our Lunchtime with ConTempo series (which takes place in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on the first Tuesday of the month) and ConTempo Countwide series (which takes place in communities around Galway county). Ahead of these concerts, we deconstruct some of the featured repertoire so you can learn about the music performed at our concerts and connect with the works more deeply. 🎻Â
The WORLD PREMIERE of Ronan Guilfoyle’s ‘Legacy’ took place on Bank Holiday Monday 1 June in Halla Ronáin, Inis Mór at 12:30pm and was reprised for another performance on Tuesday 2 June in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, Galway at 1:10pm.Â
Our Guided Listening Programme, Music Unveiled is brought to you in partnership with Galway City Council Arts Office as part of its Cultural Partnerships Initiative, and is in collaboration with Galway’s city libraries and University of Galway’s Music Department.Â
