Experience the WORLD PREMIERE of “Wait” a new piece for String Quartet, composed by Ailís Ní Ríain, which was co-commissioned by MusicConnects and Cúirt International Festival of Literature. The work was composed in response to “Wait” by the American poet Galway Kinnell (1927-2014), who read at Cúirt twice, from his collection Mortal Acts, Mortal Words (1980). The composer has created a fascinating aural experience heightened by, and enveloped in, Kinnell’s words. The World Premiere will be followed by conversation featuring quartet members, the composer, a local poet, Evonne Ferguson, Director of the Contemporary Music Centre, and Aidan Thomson, Director of the BA in Music at University of Galway.
