Lunchtime with ConTempo, June

Join MusicConnects for Lunchtime with ConTempo this June for a dazzling range of music including British composer and conductor Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Galway’s own, Katharina Baker.

The performance takes place at 1:10pm on Tuesday 6 June in the pleasant surroundings of St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, Lombard St, Galway.

ConTempo Quartet will perform their rendition of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s “Fantasiestücke” (Fantasy Pieces) alongside Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s String Quartet No. 21 in D Major. Complementing these two works is the opening movement of Katharina Baker’s Pink Petal Suite.

This celebratory concert comes following MusicConnetcs’ now-annual Ensemble Skills Summer Course, in which this music by Baker and Mozart was explored by our talented young players. Join them and our regular audiences to in hearing this music performed in all its glory by ConTempo Quartet.

ConTempo Quartet is the resident ensemble of MusicConnects and was RTE’s Resident Quartet from 2014 until 2019.
