As part of our Nature & Ecology theme for 2025, we’re celebrating trees and forests this March. ConTempo Quartet will perform works inspired by, and evoking, woodlands and some of the sounds found there.
The repertoire will include String Quartet Op. 33 no. 3, nicknamed – ‘The Bird’ and Jane O’Leary’s ‘Mystic Play of Shadows’. Both pieces evoke the strong connection between bird and tree, and the unique sound and movements they create together. Also featured movements from Antonín Dvořák’s ‘Cypresses’ and Leoš Janáček’s On an Overgrown Path arranged for string quartet, conjuring a sense of the peace and wonder one can experience in a woodland.
The concert is free, all are welcome and no booking is required. Donations are welcome.
